Environmental Law

The principal law in the management of the environment in Uganda provides for the establishment of the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) with power to coordinate, monitor and supervise all activities in the field of the environment. Several regulations under the principal law have been passed to regulate the environment. It is in the interest of various investors seeking to set up industries or other businesses that are likely to impact on the environment to ensure that their planned activities comply with Uganda’s environmental law. Many investors have lost huge sums of money after being found in breach of Uganda’s environmental law.
